Lauren Cullen was released from custody

AN alleged drug mule charged in relation to an attempt to bring $500,000 worth of cocaine and speed into Adelaide has been granted bail.Lauren Cullen, 24, was released from custody on strict conditions after Crown prosecutor David Plater told the Adelaide Magistrates Court she was "lower down the food chain" in the drug conspiracy. He said Cullen could be defined as "the mule" and had been "literally caught red-handed with a large amount of drugs".The court has previously heard Cullen was arrested by police as she collected a bag from the luggage carousel at Adelaide Airport in December after arriving on a flight from Sydney. The bag contained 570g of crystal methamphetamine in a shampoo bottle and 560g of cocaine in a talcum powder bottle.Cullen faces two charges of trafficking in a commercial quantity of a controlled drug. She is yet to enter a plea.Three others have also been charged.Mr Plater said while there were concerns that Cullen may abscond, these were "greatly allayed" by stringent conditions being placed on her bail.He also said the prosecution strongly opposed bail for Cullen's co-accused.
