Stanislav Sasmil, 24, and 26-year-old Sandra Marisa Soares da Rocha, 26, were charged at Solihull Magistrates' Court with importing Class A drugs.
Mr Sasmil, from Estonia, and Ms Soares da Rocha, from Portugal, are accused of smuggling 8kg of cocaine on a flight into Birmingham airport on Friday.
The pair, from Wylds Lane, Worcester, were remanded in custody until 3 March.
They will re-appear at Solihull magistrates court on that date. A 53-year-old man who was also arrested, has not been charged, customs officials said.
