Police shootouts with drug traffickers in two Rio de Janeiro slums left at least 10 people dead, including a toddler and two locals caught in the crossfire, officials said.
Five suspected gang members were killed in the Jacarezinho slum during several overnight firefights that ended at dawn and also caused the death of a three-year-old boy and a local man, a Secretariat of Security spokesperson said.
In the Vila Cruzeiro favela, as Rio's slums are known, two suspected drug traffickers and a local man were killed during a police raid on a gang hideout.
Bolivia nationalized the company that runs the three largest airports in
Bolivia because the government claims the company did not invest in
improving the airports.
