Kameron Baszler, 26, pleaded guilty to a dozen counts of identity theft and one count of aiding in the escape of 28-year-old Tyler Duane McPherson from the Lane County Sheriff’s Forest Work Camp last year. She has used meth since her early teen years
McPherson was sentenced last week to 11 years in prison for 14 counts of identity theft. He also was convicted of similar crimes in Nevada, committed after his escape from the work camp, according to court records.
Baszler was named in all but three of the 26 theft counts lodged against McPherson, Deputy Lane County District Attorney David Montgomery said.
“They worked essentially as a team,” Montgomery said.
Baszler would approach a clerk or owner of a small store for help in making a purchase, giving McPherson an opening to steal the clerk’s purse or backpack, according to court records. The two then used the victims’ checks, cash and identity papers to get money for drugs, according to court records.
Baszler, the mother of six children,. Her children are with a relative or under state foster care.
