Judge: Mathis police officer may not carry gun » Corpus Christi Caller-Times

Judge: Mathis police officer may not carry gun » Corpus Christi Caller-Times: "Mathis police sergeant tested positive for cocaine. A judge no longer will let him carry a gun. He can’t drive without an alcohol detection device.
The result: an indefinite suspension without pay from the Mathis Police Department.
Hector Garcia Jr., 40, had been allowed to carry a gun while out on bail on suspicion of drunken driving.
That was until a Friday hearing when 148th District Judge Marisela Saldaña addressed a report that he failed a urinalysis.
A probation officer in the pretrial supervision unit said Garcia tested positive on June 8 for cocaine and benzodiazepine, a prescription drug sometimes used to treat anxiety, insomnia, seizures, alcohol withdrawal or muscle spasms."
