Kornwipha Pinkaeo — arrived in Hyderabad from New Delhi by a Jet light aircraft last night. She had travelled from Bangkok to Delhi and was scheduled

In a major catch, a Thai woman who was to board an aircraft to Kuala Lumpur, was caught at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, and 2.22 kg heroin worth about Rs 2.22 crore seized from her.The operation was carried out by the sleuths of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in the small hours of Saturday.According to DRI sources, the woman — 34-year-old Kornwipha Pinkaeo — arrived in Hyderabad from New Delhi by a Jet light aircraft last night. She had travelled from Bangkok to Delhi and was scheduled to board a Malaysian Airlines flight (MH 99) at 1 am to Kuala Lumpur.Based on specific inputs, the woman’s baggage was checked thoroughly. “The consignment was concealed in a cavity at the bottom of the suitcase, which was specially created to accommodate heroin. The cavity was later shut using screws,” sources told this website's newspaper. The accused was supposed to deliver the heroin, given to her in Delhi by Nigerian nationals, in Kuala Lumpur. Pure heroin costs Rs 1 crore per kg in the international market.
Stating that this was the first time that such a huge haul was caught at the Hyderabad airport, DRI officials said Pinkaeo had travelled to India for the first time. Her passport, issued from Bangkok in 2005, was found to be genuine.” We suspect she was just a carrier. She has told us that some Nigerian nationals in Delhi had given her the consignment,” sources said. After grilling her for several hours, the DRI officials produced her in the Rangareddy district court. She was later sent to the Chanchalguda prison.
